North HS & FM Champ - Follow-up

Health, Safety & FM Golf Championships

Notts (Hollinwell) GC | 11th September, 2019

Presented by:

The stunning Notts GC played host to the second Health, Safety and FM Golf Championship of the year. September’s edition was the “North” chapter in the event series, following on from the “South” event at Centurion Club near St Albans back in May.

Golfers were treated to an absolutely gorgeous setting throughout the day and whilst the Notts course does provide a very serious challenge, its natural beauty is undeniable.

The event kicked off with a trick-shot show performed by the very talented Kev Carpenter, wowing everyone with his incredible hand-eye co-ordination (and on-point banter). A few of the golf day guests even had a go - with some faring better than others!

Onto the golf itself and the morning cloud gave way to some glorious sunshine for the start of the round. The course is over 100 years old and has hosted plenty of high-level golf in the past, and currently hosts the final qualifying for The Open Championship every July. There are so many memorable holes out there, it’s hard to pick a favourite but a couple of the standouts (13th and 18th) were used for the nearest the pin and longest drive holes. The key to scoring well was always going to be staying patient and keeping the ball in play off the tee!

The eventual winners were:

Team - Rite Hite - (Peter Poolan, David Poolan, Chris Radford and Dale Radford) 85pts

Individual - Dale Radford - 36 points

Runner-up - Mark Bocock (Clipper Logistics) - 34 points

Nearest the pin - David Poolan (Rite Hite) - 10 feet from pin

Longest drive - Dale Radford - 320 yards

Shirley Parsons has been a long-time supporter of Wheelpower and through the raffle and post-round chipping and putting games over £400 was raised for their Charity. You can read more about Wheelpower below. Special thanks also goes to the event sponsors Rite Hite and THSP.
